Laleham Gap School is a Communication and Interaction Special School for Children with Autism, Speech, Language and Communication Needs for ages 4-18. We have a rich history of working in partnership with the business world helping young people to learn about the world of work and in turn feeding the local workforce.
As the world continues to embrace and develop its understanding of neurodiversity LGS want’s to be at the forefront of supporting young people and local employers working in a mutually beneficial way.

As Post 16 students enter term 5 at Laleham Gap their immersion in learning of their ‘Preparing for Adulthood’ Curriculum is being ramped up.
Post 16 at Laleham Gap School believes educating young people involves teaching them the academic things they need to know and the skills they need for life.
Post 16 students from Laleham Gap School in Ramsgate have spent three days working at a shop and cafe and it proved to be a treat in all ways.

Offer a work experience placement for students at your business premises
Give an inspiring talk based on your industry, run a hands-on workshop with activities related to your area of expertise or job role either in school or as part of a visit to your workplace
Provide a Supported Internship opportunity
Take a key role in supporting employment routes for young people with special educational needs and disabilities and offer a work experience placement that is co-supported by the school
Be part of our Mock interviews with Year 11 students and help them structure their CVs
Be part of our discussions about pathways after school, e.g. apprenticeships
Help champion specific issues and challenge barriers in the workplace around gender stereotyping, disability etc
Help bring a subject lesson to life by linking it to your industry
Advertising and positive word of mouth through the school careers website, school newspaper and social media links
Authentic testimonials from pupils, staff and parents for your advertising and or social media
We can offer Neurodiversity Awareness Training via our outreach team, the Thanet Inclusive Support Services
Support with the Disability Confident Employer Scheme
Assistance with funding applications for National Apprenticeship Scheme

Be your main point of contact for all enquiries
Organise pre-meets/discussions/information for activities you sign up to
Provide you details of the local arrangements including parking, facilities and our safeguarding policy.
Conduct a short evaluation with you to ensure we are getting things right.
With your permission add you to our network and keep you up to date with future activities.
