Istruzioni per la registrazione

Lo scopo della registrazione è osservare la posizione della coda mentre il gatto avvicina una persona.

VIDEO 1 – Condizione familiare (interazione gatto-proprietario)

Segui queste indicazioni per la condizione familiare, ovvero l'interazione tra il gatto e il proprietario:

1. Attiva lo smartphone in modalità ripresa video.

2. Assicurati che il gatto sia impegnato in qualche sua attività oppure si sia svegliato e sia pronto all'azione.

3. Senza farti vedere o sentire, prendi con te un oggetto gradito al gatto (cibo, premio o qualsiasi alimento tra i suoi preferiti).

4. Posizionati ad almeno 3 metri di distanza dal gatto, centralmente, con lo smartphone in posizione verticale, in modo da poter registrare l'avvicinamento dell'animale (come nell'immagine che vedrai successivamente).

5. Avvia la registrazione video.

6. Chiama il gatto e attiralo con un oggetto gradito (cibo, premio o qualsiasi alimento tra i suoi preferiti).

7. Premia il gatto e termina la registrazione.

8. Rinomina il video "nomegatto_familiare" (esempio: pepe_familiare).

9. Invia il video a labanimcogn@gmail.com

VIDEO 2 – Condizione non familiare (interazione con una persona non familiare)

Segui queste indicazioni per la condizione non familiare, ovvero il gatto viene chiamato e attirato da una persona non familiare all'animale, cioè una persona che non ha mai avuto o che ha avuto pochissime interazioni con il gatto:

1. Se ne hai la possibilità, chiedi a un tuo amico o conoscente che non conosce il gatto di interagire con lui.

2. Chiedi alla persona di attivare lo smartphone in modalità ripresa video.

3. Chiedile di prendere con sé un oggetto gradito al gatto (cibo, premio o qualsiasi alimento tra i suoi preferiti).

4. Assicuratevi che il gatto sia impegnato in qualche sua attività oppure si sia svegliato e sia pronto all'azione.

5. Rimani in disparte o in un'altra stanza, assicurandoti che il gatto non possa vederti.

6. La persona dovrà posizionarsi ad almeno 3 metri di distanza dal gatto, centralmente, con lo smartphone in posizione verticale, in modo da poter registrare l'avvicinamento dell'animale (come nell'immagine che vedrai successivamente).

7. La persona dovrà avviare la registrazione video.

8. La persona dovrà chiamare il gatto e attirarlo con un oggetto gradito (cibo, premio o qualsiasi alimento tra i suoi preferiti).

9. La persona dovrà premiare il gatto e terminare la registrazione.

10. Rinomina il video "nomegatto_nonfamiliare" (esempio: pepe_nonfamiliare).

11. Invia il video a labanimcogn@gmail.com

Ulteriori dettagli

La procedura deve essere svolta in casa, in un ambiente familiare per il gatto, tranquillo e privo di distrazioni eccessive.

È importante che il gatto non venga forzato in alcun modo: la partecipazione dell'animale deve essere spontanea.

Ogni filmato deve riprendere il gatto frontalmente e interamente, dal momento in cui si accorge della presenza della persona e/o del cibo fino al momento in cui raggiunge e consuma il premio alimentare.

Durante la procedura è importante:

• non forzare il gatto a partecipare;

• non sollevarlo o spostarlo manualmente;

• non bloccarlo, inseguirlo o spaventarlo;

• non usare rumori improvvisi;

• non lanciare il premio;

• non registrare se il gatto è agitato, spaventato o aggressivo;

• non svolgere prove consecutive.

Se il gatto non si avvicina, si allontana o mostra segnali di disagio, la prova deve essere interrotta.

Recording Instructions

The purpose of the recording is to observe the position of the cat's tail while it approaches a person.

VIDEO 1 – Familiar Condition (Cat–Owner Interaction)

Please follow these instructions for the familiar condition, in which the cat interacts with its owner:

1. Turn on your smartphone and set it to video recording mode.

2. Make sure your cat is engaged in one of its normal activities or has just woken up and is ready to interact.

3. Without attracting the cat's attention, take with you something the cat particularly likes (treats, food, or any of its favorite snacks).

4. Position yourself at least 3 meters (10 feet) away from the cat, directly in front of it, holding your smartphone vertically so that you can record the cat's approach (as shown in the reference image provided later).

5. Start recording.

6. Call the cat and attract its attention using the preferred food or treat.

7. Reward the cat and stop the recording.

8. Rename the video using the format "catname_familiar" (e.g., pepe_familiar).

VIDEO 2 – Unfamiliar Condition (Interaction with an Unfamiliar Person)

Please follow these instructions for the unfamiliar condition, in which the cat is called by a person who is unfamiliar to the animal (someone who has never interacted with the cat or has had very few interactions with it):

1. If possible, ask a friend or acquaintance who does not know the cat to participate.

2. Ask this person to set their smartphone to video recording mode.

3. Have them bring along something the cat likes (treats, food, or any of its favorite snacks).

4. Ensure that the cat is engaged in one of its normal activities or has just woken up and is ready to interact.

5. Stay out of sight or in another room, making sure the cat cannot see you.

6. The unfamiliar person should stand at least 3 meters (10 feet) away from the cat, directly in front of it, holding the smartphone vertically to record the cat's approach (as shown in the reference image provided later).

7. The unfamiliar person should start recording.

8. They should call the cat and attract its attention using the preferred food or treat.

9. They should reward the cat and stop the recording.

10. Rename the video using the format "catname_unfamiliar" (e.g., pepe_unfamiliar).

Additional Details

The procedure must be carried out at home, in a familiar, quiet environment for the cat, free from excessive distractions.

It is essential that the cat is never forced to participate. Participation must be entirely voluntary and spontaneous.

Each video should capture the cat from the front and with its entire body visible, starting from the moment it notices the person and/or the food until it reaches and consumes the food reward.

During the procedure, please:

• Do not force the cat to participate.

• Do not pick up or manually move the cat.

• Do not restrain, chase, or frighten the cat.

• Do not use sudden or loud noises.

• Do not throw the food reward.

• Do not record if the cat appears agitated, fearful, or aggressive.

• Do not perform multiple trials consecutively.

If the cat does not approach, moves away, or shows signs of discomfort or distress, the trial should be stopped immediately.
