Dear Staff, Headteachers, Assistant Headteachers, Teaching and Non-teaching Staff, and Parents of Kosofe LGEA,
Today, I want to speak from my heart—and maybe tickle your funny bone a bit—about something deeply important to all of us: embracing and supporting our community by engaging with the Kosofe LGEA Facebook Page.
Imagine this, 😰
Someone asks, "Where do you work?" Many of us might say "SUBEB," and that’s understandable. SUBEB plays a crucial role in our education system regarding employment, deployment, salaries, promotion, remuneration, and yada, yada, yada, many more. However, it’s a bit distant from our daily experiences. They have over 12,000 followers on their Facebook page, with many of those followers being employment seekers, the public, government workers, their staff, and LGEAs staff. But do not forget, that once the employment seeker secures a job like us, they are assigned to an LGEA like ours to begin their teaching careers, which is where they would be redeployed to schools like they've done for us. It is now our primary duty to make sure where we are working is represented to the public very well.
Who says, 'Where you work does not define you'? If your workplace is nice, remunerated well, and has a good standing with the public, bet with me, people would want to associate with you and even your children. It is what you call 'your thing' people will call it. If you call it 'beautiful' it would be beautiful; if you call it 'trash' people will throw it away, cast it aside, and wouldn't want to associate with it. Take for example, Apple and Nokia, Google and Yahoo, where would you like to be associated with?
Now, let’s take a moment to reflect. By primarily promoting SUBEB on our personal platforms like Facebook (which I never said you shouldn't do), we might be overlooking the environment where we truly make an impact—our schools and our LGEA. Our schools are primary to us, our LGEA is secondary, and SUBEB is tertiary.
Here’s why it matters:
Community Pride: Our LGEA is where we come together. It's where we contribute daily to the education and growth of our pupils. (Plus, let's be honest, it's where we bond over shared experiences like verification, promotion, and even retirement.)
Recognition and Acknowledgement: By engaging with our LGEA's Facebook page, we recognize the dedication of everyone involved in our local educational system. (Yes, even those who seem to have a PhD in teaching experience but on the book!)
Personal Connection: Our connection to the LGEA is personal and direct. It’s where we see the results of our efforts and where our hearts truly lie. (And where we can collectively laugh 🤣😂😉about the quirks and joys of our day-to-day challenges.)
Engaging with our Facebook page strengthens our sense of belonging and pride. We’re promoting not just an organization but our collective home, our place of impact, and our community.
