 EQUITY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, AND BELONGING

In this department, we welcome everyone with open minds and open hearts. We support equitable practices, embrace diversity, constantly work to improve ourselves, and actively seek out opportunities for personal growth. We work towards creating an inclusive environment for all our staff, and hope that when you are here you feel like you belong. Welcome to the Kirby Neurobiology Center!

 Inclusive Culture & Continued Learning

The Kirby Center hosts recurring social events to promote collegiality and foster a community of mutual respect and belonging amongst colleagues.  We also routinely organize interactive workshops to critically reflect on topics such as allyship and implicit biases in order to advance strategies for enhancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Community Engagement & Outreach

The Kirby Center regularly coordinates events with local communities in order to deliver crucial support and services. Kirby faculty members also partner with local and national institutions in order to create and launch sustainable programs that create pathways for disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to enter the neurobiology field.
