Project 1 : Diagramming Architectural Principles

This project allow us to abstract and summarised our ideas into understandable and informative diagrams. Each group were task with a building, and 5 specific requirements must be looked into, assessed, and then presented using diagrams. Concept, structure, context, space planning, and circulation are the criteria. The delivery methods for the presentations include models, diagrams, and a live presentations.

In this assignment, I developed the fundamental abilities of construction analysis and diagram presentation. The foundation of precedent studies and the approaches that may be used were also presented to me through this project. Having this information was helpful to my design approach for forthcoming projects.

Project 2 : Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality Introspective Pavilion

To create a meaningful gesture of architectural spaces throughout the design process of an introspective architectural folly with spatial experiences, students are encouraged to further explore design principles and materiality in this group project, which is formed in groups of four. Only 70% dry construction and 30% wet building are permitted for the construction and materiality.

In presenting our concepts for building places based on our story of introverts and extroverts, I have gathered expertise and understanding. We cooperate effectively in order to achieve our common objective, and we are constantly driven to advance our concepts. Our tutor provided us with a lot of advice, which allowed us to explore other ways of communicating our concepts. I had the chance to hone my capacity for sensory expression through diagrams and drawings.

Final Project : Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality + Context + User: Atelier By The Stream

We are assigned to designed an atelier that suits the needs of one our family members including ourselves to stay for 3 days. The target site is aimed at Wawasan Recreational Park in Puchong. We are required to designed a workspace as well as other necessities space to be able to live in the structure which would boost our relationship and the bond we had with the surrounding environment . The sized are limited to 100 sqm, as well as meeting the requirements of having certain spaces. The structure design made should allow the users to undergo a memorable spatial experience based on the design principles, the materiality used and suitable contruction methods.

From this project, i was able to experience my first site visit along with my coursemate in analysing the site in groups. It allows me to improve my communication skills to have better understanding with my groupmates in order for us to be on the same track. The workshops held was very beneficial for me in acquiring further informations on how to identify the external factors affecting the selected site with details, to understand the suitability of designing a structure along the stream. I learnt to adapt to the location well and make use of the factors in order to design my structure to suit the preference of my user. It has given me a chance to also maximize my ideas and knowledge to develop a good design in relation to my design principles. I would like to thanked my tutors for guiding me throughout the journey of this project, especially Ms. Alia.
