Class: ART* 2470-01- Art Museum Training Internship
Hours: 48
Midterm grade: A
Final Grade: A
Semester: Fall 2021
School Placement: Nicolaysen Art Museum, Casper, Wyoming
Grade: Kindergarten- 5th Grade
Mentor Teacher: Mrs. Michelle Miller
Rationale: In my educational journey toward becoming a highschool teacher, I had the opportunity to intern at the Nicolaysen Art Museum for younger homeschool students. In my enrollment in this class, I had the opportunity to develop engaging and meaningful lesson plans under the supervision of my mentor teacher, Mrs. Michelle Miller. This experience allowed me to observe how a non-traditional classroom is successfully managed, and I had the wonderful opportunity to work with younger students on how to keep them engaged and focused. I was able to take some of the teaching strategies into my practice that I had learned earlier in the semester and apply them to my lessons. After finishing my time at the Nicolaysen, I believe that I have even more knowledge and it was a wonderful experience I will cherish forever.
Class: Chadron CDC Art Lesson
Hours: 1.5
Final Grade: A
Semester: Spring 2024
School Placement: Burkheiser Building, Chadron State College Campus
Grade: Kindergarten
Mentor Teacher: Mrs. Trudy Denham
Rationale: This experience demonstrates strong abilities in teaching, lesson planning, and engaging with students in an educational setting. By constructing a hands-on art lesson that combined color theory, creativity, and interactive activities, the individual fostered a positive learning environment. The project allowed students to explore Spring colors through drawing and to use tactile materials like cotton balls for crafting, encouraging creativity and motor skill development. This reflects the individual's commitment to making learning both accessible and enjoyable for young learners.
