4.7 Forms of Governance

Ghana uses a unitary presidential republic with a centralized government in Accra( capital). Administrative divisions like regions and districts derive authority from the central government. Verify for any recent political structure changes. 

• Regions: Ghana is divided into 16 regions, each with its own regional capital.

• Districts: Regions are further subdivided into districts. As of my last update, there are over 200 districts in Ghana.

• Municipalities and Metropolitan Assemblies: Within the districts, there are municipalities and metropolitan assemblies, which are urban areas with a higher level of administrative autonomy.

• Traditional Authorities: Ghana recognizes traditional authorities, such as chiefs and kings, in some areas. While traditional authorities don't have formal administrative powers, they play important roles in local governance and cultural matters.
