Photo Retouching
Posterized Image
I've been wanting to make a profile picture of myself for a while now, and now that I have some more skills under my belt I have decided to do so. I took a picture of myself with my phone and threw it into Photoshop. (Update: I decided to do a posterized image of myself as well, this isn't in the design techniques section, just something to show.)
I used healing tools to clean up the logo on my shirt.
I used eye coloring techniques to make my eyes more blue (natural color).
I used adjustment layers to give the photo more contrast.
Contrast: I liked playing with darker and brighter colors here. It helped give the composition a more stern a full look.
Repetition: The image has a repetitive color theme of dark blue and brown. Fits the overall grey atmosphere.
Alignment: I deliberately placed my face in the center of the image to give off an asymmetrical feel.
Proximity: I placed the image so that my shirt takes the whole bottom third of the photo. It helps make the head less overbearing.
Color choice: I chose a darker blue and grey to help recede the darker parts of the image. I wanted a focus on the face, so I used white instead of the warm glow on the original image.
