Business Plan - Page Layout
I wanted to design a business plan graphic for a fake business I'm creating in my technical writing class. I wanted to make it pop and seem more interesting than just text on a word document.
I used Photoshop adjustment layers and camera raw to color correct the background image to my liking. The image was a little blurry to start with and I had to use sharpening and other methods to fix it.
I used a vignette in the corners to darken the green haze from the original picture.
I used different opacities on the box and border to fit more with the background. The border is built by a custom shape that is repeated.
Contrast: I've used font size and bolded text to give hierarchy. I also used white text on a dark background. The big tempest in the background helps contrast the white text.
Repetition: I've pulled the red color from the background for the box and border. The text is all white as well.
Alignment: Strong Justified alignment to fit the box. I left the title on a left alignment to not increased the spacing on the word "games". I also indented the two different products instead of bulleting them.
Proximity: With limited space in the box, I grouped the information next to their designated headings. I also left a little margin between the borders and the text to give breathing room.
Color choice: I chose red because that is the main color of the business.
Font Choice: I chose two contrasting and readable fonts. The body text is Tahoma from the sans serif category. The title text is Algerian from the decorative serif category.
There is a rule of thirds layout with the text being 1/3 of the page while the photo taking the other 2/3.
