As I ease toward the end of my DLL journey, I end much as I began. I was evacuated by Hurricane Harvey as I started, and evacuated by a Petroleum Explosion as I ended. I joined a brand new staff of coaches at Lamar University as I began, and join a brand new staff of coaches at Lamar University as I end.
With each new course I took, I found myself tackling things I never would have believed I could. It has been a great journey, stretching me ways that were uncomfortable at times, but always had a positive outcome. I have mastered things that will not only benefit me, but the college student athletes that I will coach for years to come.
Today, we have a new head coach at Lamar University, and I have a new Defensive Coordinator. The future is uncertain, but the tools that I have gained in the DLL program are not. This has been a great journey - I knew I would benefit from this program, but I had no idea how much. The skills I have gained, and the knowledge I have been able to share have not only benefited me, but my co-workers and college athletes here at Lamar University. While my future is uncertain, wherever I end up, the additional tools I have gathered will go with me as I continue to strive to make a positive impact on my student athletes and football program.
