The process of introducing you to our organizations can be narrowed down to the following:
We meet
We get to know each other
We participate in activities together
Another way of looking at that:
Apply & join
Receive introduction & initial training
Venture out and into the 'verse with your crews
If you haven't already familiarized yourself with the content on this website, do so before you attend orientation and you will have covered the first part of the onboarding process.
You should become familiar with topics like: your first few crews; our current leadership and how you can join those ranks; our groups and how they associate with one another; our latest news, including announcements, upcoming events, and letters from the founder; Cloud 9 Citizenship; Cloud 9 Government; what we're looking for in recruits; Cloud 9 Career paths; current openings; Cloud 9 Application.
Among the onboarding steps that you can complete on your own before attending orientation are a few essentials that lead to becoming a naturalized citizen of Cloud 9. This consists of applying through both the RSI and Cloud 9 websites, joining Cloud 9 Chat, participating in activities with us for a few weeks, and then, if your application for citizenship is approved, you'll have a naturalization ceremony.
During the application process, you'll be presented with 10 organizations to choose from. You do not have to apply for membership in all 10, although you are welcome to. At present, 10 is the maximum number of organizations to join. That number may increase to 11 at a later date (mentioned at CitizenCon 2954). Any of our members who are in Evocati are also in the Evocati organization, so would only be able to join 9 of our organizations unless or until the maximum number is increased. If attempting to apply to join all of them, consider saving Ennead Union for last and Cloud 9 Games for second to last, as they will be the last two organizations among the current ones to be developed. Ennead may hold applications before accepting them for a while anyway, at least until CIG increase the max to 11 orgs.
Within the application, you will be provided with a series of items to select, some of which are responses to questions, others acknowledge your awareness or understanding of information, and some communicate to us your interests in opportunities. The application walks you through the steps.
Here is a walkthrough with the steps all on one page.
Section 1: Username
Enter your username as it is displayed in Star Citizen in the Username field.
Section 2: Availability

Complete the Cloud 9 Application fields to indicate what you have done or will do pertaining to our orgs:
You have applied for, or are already a member of, our main org through the RSI page:

Section 7: Next Steps
Submit your current application from this page. It includes a reminder to jumpstart your career by joining C9 via RSI, participating in group activities, and becoming a citizen. A reference to this Onboarding page is then provided for next steps.
Remaining pre-orientation steps:
After submitting your application, join us in Cloud 9 Chat and let us know that you've applied.
Join voice, launch into the 'verse, and party up for group activities when possible.
Attend your naturalization ceremony after participating in group activities with us for a few weeks.
After completing the Cloud 9 Application and becoming a Cloud 9 Citizen, proceed with orientation.
Orientation establishes and builds upon a foundation for how crews will either initially or continue to run ops, which include elements shared on a fleet level and unique to each crew.
Cloud 9 Citizens who have completed the Cloud 9 Application on this website.
Orientation is a meeting that occurs in a breathable atmosphere. Consider storing helmet and gear either in the local inventory via item kiosk or in a container. Suggested attire: Normal clothes, any style, or any spacesuit with no helmet.
After becoming a Cloud 9 Citizen, arrange via Cloud 9 Chat to have orientation.
If a veteran citizen, please complete the Cloud 9 Application on this site before scheduling orientation.
Onboarding gatherings beginning with orientation may occur in one of the following ways:
Option A
Session 1: orientation
Session 2: first crew
Session 3: second crew
Session 4: third crew
Option B
Session 1: orientation then first crew
Session 2: second crew
Session 3: third crew
Option C
Session 1: orientation then first crew
Session 2: second crew then third crew
Orientation can be covered in less time than crew activities, although each crew takes time.
It is important that this process is not rushed.
It may only be possible to schedule using either Option A or B.
Scheduling depends on availability of citizens being onboarded and of the crews.
However they end up being scheduled, please try to arrive early.
Getting around in the Star Citizen universe takes time.
Each crew meetup easily has a duration of a few hours.
For this reason, it is recommended that you prepare ahead of time.
The following timings are suggestions to help ensure early arrival and starting on time:
30-60 minutes early: Consider setting a reminder alarm for 30-60 minutes early, ensure items are ready
20-30 minutes early: Travel to C9HQ, transfer imprint, store items in inventory
5-10 minutes early:
Join orientation voice
Go to Star Citizen main menu
Form a party, anybody may form it
1-5 minutes early:
Wait for other participants, wait until 3 minutes remain
Party launch, 3-5 minutes early
Meet at C9HQ, 1-3 minute walk from waking up
Begin orientation at scheduled start time
You are of course welcome to time it as you wish. The above steps are just guidelines.
Orientation occurs at the current C9HQ, the main location for all organizations in the Cloud 9 Network.
While we have two star systems (Stanton and Pyro), our main HQ is in Orison on Crusader (Stanton II).
If the founder is available for orientation, then his hangar will be used.
If the founder is unavailable, but a current crewmate is available who has Orison set as primary residence, then with their permission, orientation may occur in their hangar.
If a hangar is used, it will need to be set up for orientation and include table and chairs for all attendees, as well as items to be used during the activity prior to and as part of preparing for the first crew.
If no primary residence persistent personal hangars are available, then use the Voyager Bar.
Outline available here.

If the professions profile has been established, you will update yours at this point.
After you have completed the above tasks (that are available), proceed with Euphoria.
Euphoria is your third crew and the conclusion of the onboarding process.
This is your entry into the fleet. You will have multiple sessions with this crew.
Cloud 9 Citizens who have completed the Cloud 9 Application on this website, orientation, the onboarding activity with Phoenix, the onboarding activity with the Runners, and received the sign-off from the established captain of the Runners to conclude onboarding with this crew.

Schedule this via Cloud 9 Chat. See Orientation (Part 2) for additional information.
Please try to arrive early.
The default location for this is Orison, Crusader (Stanton II).
However, you may be asked to meet at another location.
A multicrew ship will be used. You will need to board the ship prior to departure.
Ground vehicles and/or small ships (docked or in ship hangar) may also be used.
You are joining this crew as a runner. Expect to have multiple sessions as a runner.
After you have adjusted to running ops with this crew, the established captain will retire your runner title.
You will then be assigned a crew position. You will be informed of gear needed for the next session.
Onboarding ends the moment the Captain of Euphoria retires your runner title and assigns you to a specific crew position. You will then run ops with the crew as an established crewmate.
After spending time in Euphoria as an established crewmate, you may join (or form if not formed yet) the lead crew (first fleet crew) in any of the other organizations in the Cloud 9 Network.
You may be in multiple crews at the same time, provided you maintain reliability in each and continue to participate in each of them without sacrificing involvement in any for the others.
If you'd like to form additional crews in any of the orgs, you may do so after spending time as a crewmate in the lead crews of the orgs that you want to form crews in, provided all First Profession crews—combined with the two onboarding crews (they operate beyond training) and all of the lead crews, that totals the first 12 crews in the first fleet—have been formed and are all active. This process allows for both uniformity and uniqueness to transfer throughout the fleet. Each organization and each crew within each organization may operate in a different way to some extent, yet remain consistent to the fleet.
By spending time with Euphoria, you will experience the representative crew of the fleet. By doing the same with the lead crew of each organization in the network, you will discover the similarities and differences. With that experience, you will have a better understanding of the general directions to take when forming new crews in any of the organizations.
