We have created opportunities for our citizens to explore and discover the full spectrum of professions.
Maybe you'd like to get a vibe by participating in group activities with us before choosing your path.
You may want to choose one path now, change it to another later, or even merge multiple paths.
We've got you covered! Cloud 9 Career paths are designed with clarity of purpose and flexibility.
To help you get started on your path, we've prepared the information below to share how we do things.
And by style, we mean commitment.
If you're interested in a loose approach with group activities, then you'll fit right in with the following.
This is pretty straight forward. To participate, join Cloud 9 voice and launch into the 'verse.
This is ideal if you are limited on availability or if you have an unpredictable schedule.
This one is essentially the same as AAA except that it is scheduled to recur on a weekly basis.
Multiple OA days and times may be scheduled by anyone.
If you'd like to dip your toes in the water before diving into the deep end of the pool, then this is for you.
As may be inferred from the name, this is a midway point between open activities and crews.
Technically, the hybrid part of this is in its form. Hybrid is more structured than open, less than crews.
Anyone may form an Ephemeral Team once a week for adventures similar to how our crews run ops.
While CIG may have listed this as a commitment level, our take on it is more as an "upgraded regular".
Our hardcore upgraded regular (there's potential for hardcore) activities are where the Fleet begins.
In order to have our First Fleet, we need... wait for it...
Our highest group activity priority goes to our crews.
Well, and recruitment, because that's also important.
Speaking of which, recruit for Cloud 9 and help us grow!
Our crews are where we branch out across our orgs.
Our crews are also the most involved.
More commitment. Fun commitment.
Crews are where your career path begins.
Even the lawful can be awful and the outlaws can be delightful.
Joking aside, you have the choice. ...between lawful and unlawful, that is.
No, but really. Don't be awful. Our main rule is be nice and fun. Even if you are a criminal in the 'verse.
Out of all of our orgs, one very special org has the privilege of focusing on extralegal & illegal activities.
At present, we are placing that org on hold until we have made fleet progress with our law-abiding orgs.
After we reach that point... our alts shall rise from the bowels of hell with nefarious misdeeds!
Or maybe that's hilarious misdeeds. (ahem) ...with hilarious misdeeds! (ahem) That's more like it.
At times, we may simply have fun on our alts getting into trouble to the tune of "Breaking the Law".
At other times, we'll take more complex approaches on par with organized crime.
But, hey, it's what we our alts do.
Until we have made progress with the first fleet, no criminal activities.
At least, no crime in a group context or in any way that tracks back to us.
If you have an outlaw itch that must be scratched before we proceed with our outlaw org, scratch it.
Just don't brag about your scars from scratching too hard. And don't ask us to scratch it for you. Eww.
Some people love it. Others abhor it.
It is inevitable that we're going to have it as demands increase in some areas.
The grinding will be left to the people who actually want to or are okay with doing it.
Now, let's just hope that we don't end up having a 100% member base of non-grinders.
If you're into it and even want to put together the Cloud 9 Grinders Brigade, then have at it!
Is the answer yes to both? It's okay, we also have other Legatus folks in Cloud 9.
Or maybe you have all the ships except the Aurora.
All you need to join us is one starter ship with the Star Citizen download.
If you are new and you meet us during a free fly, then you can get the starter after the event.
Noncombat? PVE? PVP? Nonnothing? PVS (Persistent Vegetative State)? Nonanything?
Easy! We do all of the above, except the veg bit. What you do depends on your interests.
If the features and content are available in Star Citizen, then we use them. You have plenty of choices.
If you are in a crew that goes mining, salvaging, refueling, hauling, towing, racing, or anything else that doesn't involve violence, and if we have another crew or crews available to provide medical and security escorts (and engineering support when it's added), then we can make a party out of it.
Your crew would already have medical, security, and engineering (when it's implemented) personnel, but sometimes a little more support is needed. That's where the fleet comes into the picture. If you don't like to do one thing, chances are someone else does. We aim to play matchmaker among crews as our citizens form them.
Yes. You absolutely can choose the career path where you become a taxi driver decked out in your golden concierge armor transporting med gown plebs around in your Greycat PTV buggy (image above). We don't have a name for that particular type of taxi driver profession yet, but you're welcome to come up with one, share it with us, and we might even add it to the professions list.
The flowcharts for our career paths look like rollercoaster rides for all of the possibilities, and yet they still manage to retain the necessary collective purpose so that when our citizens go through them the outcomes contribute toward the expansive potential of our conglomerate.
The details will be provided in the handbook (coming soon™).
In the meantime, here is a general look at the process....

*Some openings need to be filled before others, they are the only ones listed on the application until others are ready to be moved up in priority. However, if you are interested in a current lower priority opening, go ahead and complete the application and just let us know in Cloud 9 Chat what you're interested in. You may be asked to help out with a higher priority item first, then change to the other one later unless both can occur at the same time.
**Joining the Cloud 9 org is a prerequisite / concurrent requirement to joining the other orgs.
The Cloud 9 Application on this website provides a walk-through of steps in sequential order and includes links to RSI pages of all of the organizations. The RSI pages have "Join us now!" application buttons.

This step will be skipped for now and added into the process when ready
Update your professions profile
Also in progress, step to be skipped for the time being
Profiles will be implemented in Cloud 9 Chat and, later, via org features in the 'verse
Transfer to Euphoria
Third crew, first in fleet
Join crew as a Runner, onboarding is complete upon transition to established crewmate
Run operations with the crew until ready to either remain with them and/or transfer to another crew*
Join more main crews, then specialized crews
Fourth crew is another main crew in the fleet (listed on this site) and in any of the orgs in the network
Additional crews may be formed afterward, which may stand apart from the rest in unique ways
Future crews may include unlikely profession crossovers or be more advanced in specific subfields
Advance professions, manage and lead aspects of our organizations
Over the course of time, earn rank promotions, be assigned specific crew positions and similar
Step into management and leadership roles (some to be filled ahead of time where needed)
*The essential crews—Phoenix, Runners, Euphoria, and the initial crews of each org—will need to be formed in the early stages of fleet development. Each of those crews will also need to maintain operations before forming additional crews. It is possible to be in multiple crews, provided no sacrifices in commitment are made in any of them by participating in the others.
Form a crew in Nebula 9
This will occur after the Cloud 9 First Fleet has established a regular presence in the 'verse
An alt RSI account will be required for Nebula 9 until CIG provide a multi-character feature per account
Coordinate with Cloud Nexus
This will occur after establishing Nebula 9 crews
Cloud 9 and Nebula 9 crews are to make arrangements to maximize lawful & unlawful shared experiences
All organizations in the Cloud 9 and Nebula 9 Networks are involved in this process
Expand with Cloud 9 Games and Ennead Union
C9G activities will occur after making progress with Cloud Nexus
Ennead activities will occur after making progress with C9G
C9G, Inc. and Ennead, Inc., along with Cloud Nexus, are directly under Cloud 9, Inc.
At this level, C9G and Ennead each have potential for growth on par with the Cloud Nexus structures
C9G and Ennead each have their own org for SC activities and external groups for non-SC activities
All organizations, currently 10, are set to allow for the submission of applications through their RSI pages.
Members of the 4 organizations above may use org chats while waiting for activation in the 'verse.
Here's an example outline of career path steps for a future EMT & Firefighter:
Apply: Consider path, browse openings, apply for RSI memberships*, citizenship (this site), participate
Onboard (crews): Orientation, then Phoenix, then Runners
Confirm current career path: Survival path, then medical focus, then firefighter focus
Onboard (fleet): Euphoria, then Vista**, then possibly different or additional crew(s)
Choose additional paths***: Nebula 9, then Cloud Nexus, then Cloud 9 Games, then Ennead Union
*RSI org memberships in step 1. to include at least the Cloud 9 org and Horizon Health org in this example. Members of Horizon, Vortex, Solaris, Quantum, and Olympus are to also be members in Cloud 9. Someone becoming an EMT and Firefighter will need to be in both Cloud 9, as it is the parent org and base of fleet operations, and Horizon Health, which is the medical organization and includes medical professions such as EMT and Firefighter.
**Vista in step 4. is the first and main medical crew in Horizon Health. Its early focus is as an ambulatory response unit, although may shift to another subfield of medicine as more crews are formed in Horizon.
***Each item in step 5. is pending progress with previous groups in the networks. N9 is waiting on the C9 network (Cloud 9, Horizon, Vortex, Solaris, Quantum, Olympus), CN is waiting on N9, C9G is waiting on CN, and EU is waiting on C9G.
While navigating through your career, you will have opportunities to develop skills and utilize them in the contexts of first-person, ground vehicle, and ship-based activities. If you don't have the vehicles, they will be provided for you. If you do have any of them, you are of course welcome to use them with your crews.
All paths begin with the basics, which are covered during onboarding.
Everyone joining the fleet goes through basics.
Star Citizen basics
Cloud 9 basics
First-person normal conditions, medical, security, and engineering basics
Driving basics, including different conditions (normal, medical, security, engineering)
Flying basics, including different conditions (normal, medical, security, engineering)
The education system will go more in-depth into career paths after it is integrated into the program.
Everyone joining the fleet selects and implements one or more of the areas of focus summarized below.

There's a lot to that even with the condensed version above!
You need only remember to do the first few steps, up to where you become a Cloud 9 Citizen.
After you make it to that point, we will help you out the rest of the way, particularly with onboarding.
