John 14:15-21
Jesus to Send an Advocate
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Jesus was about to be arrested, tried, and die on the cross for us...He did not have much time left to spend with His disciples...Jesus promised to send His disciples an Advocate to help them...They would not be left as orphans...The Advocate would be coming...An Advocate is One that pleads for another, One that pleads for the Truth, One that wants the Truth, One that seeks the Truth, and One who supports in the time of need...The Advocate would plead, seek, support, us and the Truth in our times of need...The Advocate is also called the Spirit of Truth...Our Advocate helps us find the Truth, because it is Divine...It is so quiet and subtle that most of the time one does not notice it, but it is always searching for the Truth for us...It helps us believe...When you think about why you believe in things, it is because these things are true...The Spirit of Truth, helps us find the Truth, which helps us find Jesus...
Our Advocate is always seeking the Truth, always seeking Jesus, because He the Way, the Truth, and our very Life...Our Advocate is the Holy Spirit in us...Because Jesus died and resurrected He still lives...Because He lives, we also will live...When we see, feel, sense, or understand that Jesus is actually in us, then we realize that Jesus is in the Father, and that we are in Him, and He is in us...If we follow what He has taught, then this shows that we love Him...And as we show our love for Him, we will be Loved by His Father...
These things mean that Jesus is in us looking for Truth...It also means He Loves us, and will one day show Himself to us...
