Job 42:1-6
Epilogue of Job
1 Then Job replied to the Lord:
2 “I know that you can do all things;
no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.’
5 My ears had heard of you
but now my eyes have seen you.
6 Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes.”
Is there something beyond suffering that mankind does not understand...Job suffered, and he suffered a lot...Job lost his family, his servants, his friends, his wealth, and finally his health...But Job clung to his faith...And Job had many questions for God and basically why he had been put through all the suffering he had been put through...So what did Job find out when God came out of the storm...God provided not one answer for Job's many questions...What Job got was the Presence of God...And yet while Job had suffered all the while, he was in grief and in pain...But when Job can into the Presence of God, something happened...Job's questions now in his words were things he did not understand...In the Presence of God, his suffering did not matter as much, if at all (we are not really told)...And Job despised himself for what he had been asking of God...
Here is what Job said after meeting God... “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted...You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’...Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know...“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’...My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you...Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”...There must be something Beyond Suffering in Job's eyes and thoughts now, because he has changed...
