Job 9:33-35
Job Looks for a Mediator, A Redeemer
33 If only there were someone to mediate between us,
someone to bring us together,
34 someone to remove God’s rod from me,
so that his terror would frighten me no more.
35 Then I would speak up without fear of him,
but as it now stands with me, I cannot.
Job 19:25
Job Knows that His Redeemer Lives
25 I know that my redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
Many, many people have wrote about and continue to write about the problem of pain and suffering...The Bible offers us the Book of Job, and his terrible sufferings...Job is the poster child for suffering in the Bible...
And as Job and his friends talk and question the problems of suffer, we really do not get solid answers from Job or his friends about pain and suffering...And even when God comes out of the storm to talk to Job, He really does not address suffering, and why Job has had to suffer in his life...We do know that satan was involved in Job's suffering...And we do know that God was watching Job all the while as Job suffered in the loss of family, wealth, and friends...And then he lost his good health...And God was still watching...Yet, the answers to suffering are still few and far between on the specifics of why we suffer...But we continue to think and write about the pains and sufferings of life...
Many people refuse to believe in God because of suffering...But Job was not one of those non-believers...His questions were pointed at God...Job knew people suffered, and now he was greatly suffering...And we learn in Job's trials that it is also fine to question God in our sufferings...Job certainly questioned Him...And in his great pain Job asks, if only there were Someone to mediate between God and himself, Someone that could bring Job and God together...In his suffering, and in his need, Job saw this need for One who bring God and all He knows, to men who are limited in what we know...Where those of limits, can meet with the Limitless...Job knew the Providence of God, and knew that his questions and words fell far short of understanding God's Ways and His Will...
Job knew and says that His Redeemer lived, and would one day walk upon the earth...I do not know if Job knew that His Redeemer would suffer or have to suffer...Our Redeemer would suffer for the entire world...Our Redeemer would suffer for all of mankind's sins...Great suffering and death would happen to our Redeemer thousands of years after Job...The crucifixion on the cross, the suffering on the cross would be the Great Door, the Great Gate that would be the symbol of suffering, and our better being able to relate to our sufferings...And as we read about suffering and why the Redeemer suffered, we learn some more about suffering...Suffering and Life and the Way to God go through the cross...This Great Door of the cross shows us that we are not alone in our sufferings...
