Standard 6:
Reading, Writing, and Oral Communication

Standard 6 - Reading, Writing, and Oral CommunicationThe competent teacher has foundational knowledge of reading, writing, and oral communication within the content area and recognizes and addresses student reading, writing, and oral communication needs to facilitate the acquisition of content knowledge.

By helping my students with their reading and writing skills, I will also be helping them with their communication skills. By being able to read and write, my students will be able to combine ways to form their thoughts deliver ideas and emotions. The more I develop their reading and writing skills across different content, the stronger their oral communication skills will get. This will benefit them in the long run with future jobs and education.

Group Activities

Group Activities  - is connected to Standard 6: Reading, Writing and Oral Communication through 6S.

The competent teacher stimulates discussion in the content areas for varied instructional and conversational purposes.

Group activities are games and icebreakers that I have gathered to use throughout the year. They are activities that promote student discourse to learn P.E. vocabulary, build community, and serve as prerequisite movement skills. Students need to discuss and problem solve together to achieve the objective.
