Standard 2 - Content Area and Pedagogical Knowledge – The competent teacher has in-depth understanding of content area knowledge that includes central concepts, methods of inquiry, structures of the disciplines, and content area literacy. I want to teach my students the fundamentals of sports. I want them to know the basics of any sport they want to learn. I also want my students to know why an active life is good for them. They need to understand the harmful effects of being on electronics and social media. I also would like my students to follow a healthy routine and lifestyle. I want to be the teacher that helps them positively change their lives.

ESL Research Paper is connected to Standard 2: Content Area and Pedagogical Knowledge through 2H.
The Competent teacher understands the relationship among language acquisition (first and second), literacy development, and acquisition of academic content and skills.
This research identified the importance of having different strategies when teaching English Learners. Identifying the vocabulary and the different levels of cognition of the daily lesson prior to teaching will allow me to be prepared to teach all students with different levels of English Proficiency.

The competent teacher uses a variety of explanations and multiple representations of concepts that capture key ideas to help each student develop conceptual understanding and address common misunderstandings.
This lesson plan uses a variety of equipment and activities to capture the main idea of cardio training. Students learn how to use equipment that will allow them to raise their heart rate.
