Securing rights for musical recordings is an onerous process and may cost thousands of dollars. Although we may be able to 'get away with' appropriating some of her recordings, this is not how creatives should treat each other's work. Instead, we can use generic opera voice and music that is within the range of Leontyne Price. The key is to use it only as background music, credit the source, and be clear that it is not Leontyne's voice in the animation. Substitute voice and music is routinely used to tell stories about historical figures.
The opera snippets that we find can be mixed to create a new, creative, and powerful audio experience.
