Production Mechanics

Projects:

There will be 5 animation projects with teams of 5-6 students collaborating on each one. They will be integrated into the Jim Crow Museum Virtual Tour.

Attendance

Attendance is mandatory for full duration of each class period.
Students are expected to work collaboratively during these times.

Calendar

The project is broken into a number of phases for each job. They do not necessarily correlate with each other.
Students can check the course calendar to see what they should be working on and when it is due.

Jobs

There are 3 types of Jobs. Each student will perform one of them for most of the semester. Each student on every team may be called upon to help out with the other jobs, especially near the end of the semester.

Art and Text

Director: Susan Bonner

Create the illustrations, text boxes & text balloons directly in Adobe Animate
Note: Initial sketches can be performed using any software.

Animation and Storyboards

Director: Bill Fischer

All animation will be performed in Adobe Animate
The animators will primarily use Art created by the the students performing the art and text jobs.

Sound Design

Director: Bill Fischer

Sound design can include both original works and appropriated sound from creative commons websites.
Most of the sound will be integrate in Adobe Animate adn some sound in Premier during final assembly

Meetings and Reviews

Student are expected to engage via Zoom for the full 3 hours of every class session. Check the course calendar for the Zoom link.
at 12:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays all students meet for attendance and enter their breakout groups where they will work together to create the goals for that day.
There will be 3 types of meetings and reviews (see below).

Tuesdays: Achiever Team Planning

Team Planning Sessions with both Bill and Susan:

12:30 all students meet for attendance and enter their breakout groups where they will work together to create the goals for that day.

2:50 Individual groups will re-connect with Bill & Susan as needed

Thursdays : Production Reviews

Production Review Sessions with Bill or Susan:

Students Performing Art and Text job

Bill: Students Performing Animation and Sound jobs

2:00 Individual students will re-connect with Bill & Susan as needed
2:00 Students that are not reconnecting, meet with their achiever teams.

Whole Class Overall Project Reviews

There will be 3 Asynchronous Intermediate Reviews that will be performed using Google Forms. All students will review all projects at the stages listed below.
