1920: Census records indicate that Dossie is documented as ward and living with Orlena (Storms) and Sterling Price Farris.  The Farris family had 5 boys:  Charlie Gomer,  Alfred Roy, Coy Adolph, John Victor, and Sterling Ober. Charlie later married a cousin of Dossie Lou's, Beulah Carter. (The daughter of  Frank C. Carter and Etta Ione Ray). 1925: Roy Lynch, son of Dossie, is born in Oklahoma.1926: In December in Arkansas, Dossie married Manuel Quintana (presumably Roy’s father).  1927: In November in Clarksville, Arkansas, Dossie married Mervin Orsburn.  1929: Dossie met and married Carl Janaway1930: Census for Clarksville, Arkansas. Dossie is listed as head, 22, and Roy is listed as 5 yrs old. No helpful clues to who Roy's father maybe, but Dossie Lynch reports being a widow. The birthplace of both her parents is reported to be Arkansas. This differs from her birth certificate, which her mother is reported to be from Georgia.1932: In March, Dossies husband Carl Janaway is sentenced to Arkansas State prison for 5 years for bank robbery. (He escaped in 1933)1933: Dossie and Roy moved to Inglewood, California around this time, joining other family members already living there. 1934: Dossie's Husband was recaptured and then on Sept 18, 1934, sentenced to 7 years and sent to Tucker Prison.  Carl states that while he was in Tucker Prison, Dossie robbed the bank of Paris in Arkansas for $30k.1940: Dossie is married to Calvin Chism and living in Los Angeles.  1950: Dossie passes away in 1946, at the age of 38 years old. The informant on the death certificate is Roy Quintana. The Bank of Paris, Arkansas was robbed September 16, 1927. In this incident, the robbers stole approximately $10,000 in cash and bonds. There is no clear record of the perpetrators being identified or caught.   The robbery of the Bank of Paris on December 12, 1932. The robbers, who were believed to be members of the notorious Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker gang, made off with approximately $2,000 NAME  VARIATIONS:  Roy Lee: Leroy, Lee, or Roy used for his first name; and Quintana, Quinn, and Chism. Dossie: Dossie’s Death Certificate, her son is listed as Roy Quintana. Her mother and father are listed as “unknown.” On Roy’s marriage license, Dossie Lynch is documented as the mother of Roy Quinn.Living relatives have confirmed meeting Roy several times after he and Dossie moved to Inglewood, California. Roy apparently became a police officer after serving in the military. How ironic.ic.

DOSSIE AND ROY IN CALIFORNIA:   Jail Record from Tulare County

Roy Lynch is booked Feb. 17, 1947 for public intoxication. He is listed as a 17 year old male from Oklahoma.This appears to be Dossie Lynch’s son. He was born in Oaklahoma in 1925. The arrest took place in 1947, therefore Roy would be 17. 

Dossie seems to have sometimes used Augusta as a surname or middle name. Carl also went by Jack, or sometimes Jimmy.

Roy's Marriage License:  Father is listed as Manuel Quinn, mother is Dossie Lynch.
