MEET THE FAMILY

Jesse Lynch and Isabelle Garland had 4 girls together while married, Edna, Zetta, Dollie, and Dossie. All four of the girls have delayed birth certificates, obtained decades after their births, and were known to go by other names.  My great grandmother, Isabelle 'Belle' Garland later married Andrew Woodson Russell and they had 5 children, although Belle's fifth child Ruby may explain why Jesse left and never came back, and that there is no record of divorce. Ruby was born in February 1912. According to Jesse's penitentiary file, he was released on October 17, 1911.  Assuming a full-term pregnancy, or close to it pregnancy, Belle would have been 5-6 months pregnant upon his release.  Belle and Russell did not get married until 1916, almost 4 years after the birth of Ruby (although there are records in two dates with different marriage dates).
