ALiAses & names changes

I have DNA connections to the families/surnames listed in this section, and I think it helps to shed light on why this family is so difficult to trace. These are records I've found, or post from other researchers of the same family line, documenting their findings or family stories. I really didn't see this with the other side of my family, but keep seeing things like this pop up with my paternal great-grandparents lineage.

Example of the first name and middle name being used as last name. Notice how the three versions of the names have similarities such as birth & death dates.

A researcher trying to correct the record since two families of no relation were both documenting Dock Martin in their families' trees. Perhaps one man assumed the identity of the other.

I ran into this a few times...

This is an example of patterns I was noticed. Records like this would cause me a lot of confusion. Which person is the right one? What line do I follow first, and what version of the name spelling should I use? I later learned in almost all these situations, they were records to reflect the same person. Below is a name change.

Example of someone else noting that their relative had a name change.

Example of the same person having a different name on 4 census records.

Possibly sheds light on how delayed birth certificates were obtained. With the help of 'trusted sources.'

What DOB to use for Andrew?

Two identities, and two family's (maybe 3)
