CARES Peer Feedback
This workshop guides students through the process of giving peer feedback. While the teacher will often still need to provide instruction, modeling, and guidance on how to give and recieve peer feedback, the worksheet provides an extra layer of scaffolding. This is often needed as many students have never been required to give or recieve peer feedback; it is not expected or appropriate in every culture. Because the language on the worksheet is more advanced, I would only use it in an intermediate or advanced writing class. In a novice writing class, I would simplify the worksheet so that the language matches their understanding and the process is less lengthy.
TOEFL Writing Rubric
As well as helping the teacher assess their students, rubrics can be a really good way for students to self-assess. Students can evaluate their writing based on the criteria provided in the rubric. I included the TOEFL Writing Rubric because many of my students are preparing for the rubric. One thing that I could do is a TOEFL Writing practice activity. I can then have students self-and peer evaluate using the rubric. Finally, I would provide my feedback using the rubric as well.
