Welcome!

My name is Rob Danoff and I am the Director for our Family Medicine Residency Program. This is an exciting time for family medicine, as there are many areas in which we serve. Whether in the family medicine office, clinic, Urgent Care or Inpatient Medicine, or even shifts in an underserved Emergency Department, there is a big need for family physicians in our Country. Rural, urban or suburban, wherever there are people, family doctors are needed.

Our program is designed to be resident centered. By that I mean we take pride in helping to design a curriculum that helps to prepare our residents for their professional development and future practice passions. To meet these goals, we ensure the ACGME Family Medicine program requirements are met, while tailoring the electives and other rotations to focus on our residents interests. For example, if our residents want more pediatrics, are interested in sports medicine, geriatrics, hospice and palliative care, underserved medicine, travel medicine, rural or urban medicine, we strive to arrange these extra focus rotations for our residents. What is important to our residents is important to us.

At Jefferson Health – Northeast, we take pride in providing a very diverse and inclusive environment for our residents, faculty and staff. And, we are privileged to serve a multicultural and diverse patient population. Some who have many opportunities and some who have many challenges. To help serve our patients, we are fortunate to have the services, community outreach and resources of Jefferson Health. Being part of this strong clinical and educational system has provided our community, our residents, our faculty and our program with robust opportunities to grow and be the best we can be. We take pride in doing our best to ensure our residents are clinically and professionally prepared and ready to practice or enter their Fellowship programs prior to their graduation.

Our program is fortunate to have friendly faculty with strong clinical skills who care about our residents and program. In fact, many of our FM faculty are graduates of our program or those we recruited specifically for our program. Besides our patient care opportunities at Jefferson Health – Northeast and our Family Medicine Practice teaching centers, our main affiliations are the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Abington Jefferson Hospital. Dupont Pediatrics also provides additional inpatient pediatric and newborn teaching along with FM faculty at Abington Jefferson Hospital. These clinical sites provide wonderful and robust patient care opportunities.

I always say our residents begin our program as strangers and leave as friends. If you are looking for a program with humanity, one that is resident and faculty centered, one that provides plenty of patient care opportunities in an educational and supportive setting, please consider our Jefferson Health – Northeast Family Medicine residency program. Just bring your humanity, friendliness, professionalism and strong work ethic, we will provide the rest.

Thank you for your consideration and best of success for an amazing career as a family physician.

Be well,
