My university service reflects a commitment to sustaining the institutional health, academic integrity, and equity-driven mission of Xavier University of Louisiana. Across multiple roles, I have provided leadership that strengthens educator preparation programs, ensures licensure compliance, supports faculty advocacy, and builds an inclusive academic culture. These efforts extend beyond classroom instruction and demonstrate my deep engagement in institutional systems, planning, and shared governance.
As Director of the Xavier University Community Outreach Center (XUCOC) since 2022, I have expanded mission-aligned programming, supported external partnerships, and connected academic units with the Gert Town community. The center houses initiatives such as the iTeach Lounge and the Rosalind P. Hale Rites of Passage STEM Program for Girls, which promote student success, family engagement, and digital equity. I have also overseen the Father Matters NOLA, the Gert Town Voter Registration Drive in partnership with Together Gert Town, and STRIVE, a national workforce development program that provides residents with pathways to economic mobility and career advancement. In addition, I continued a monthly partnership with Total Community Action (TCA) to provide utilities assistance for Gert Town residents, ensuring vulnerable families could access critical support for electricity, water, and household stability. Collectively, these initiatives reflect XUCOC’s role as both a community anchor and academic bridge that advances Xavier’s mission in the surrounding neighborhood.
At the university level, I serve on the Athletics Committee and have held elected and appointed positions on the Faculty Salary Committee (Co-Chair) and the University Planning Council. In these roles, I have contributed to equitable compensation planning, resource prioritization, and policy development centered on institutional integrity. As Co-Chair of the Faculty Salary Committee, I also helped author the 2022–23 Faculty Salary Report, which analyzed compression and equity issues across units, documented disparities affecting faculty in the College of Pharmacy and the College of Arts & Sciences. In this committee, I provided recommendations to improve salary competitiveness and fairness at Xavier. I have also participated in multiple faculty search committees, shaping inclusive hiring practices in departments such as Psychology, Sociology, and Educational Leadership.
My leadership also includes contributions to program development and accreditation within the Division of Education and Counseling. I led the authorship of Xavier’s CAEP Standard 2 response and developing the division’s 2025–2027 Quality Assurance Handbook. These contributions were instrumental in guiding the division through recent CAEP Accredidation site visits. I have also helped co-design Xavier’s dyslexia certification coursework, revise teacher disposition protocols, and coordinate field placements for undergraduate and graduate students.
Through this multi-dimensional service, I remain committed to strengthening Xavier University as an institution that advances its mission of promoting a more just and humane society.
