Assistant Professor Special Education-Division of Education & Counseling
Xavier University of Louisiana
Welcome to my tenure portfolio. This site highlights my teaching, scholarship, service, and contributions to Xavier University of Louisiana. My work is grounded in a justice-centered approach to special education, examining how race, disability, and policy intersect to shape educational opportunity.
With more than 18 years of experience across K–12 and higher education, I am committed to preparing educators who challenge systemic inequities while fostering inclusive classrooms and communities. At Xavier, I integrate teaching, scholarship, and service to advance the university’s mission of promoting a more just and humane society.
My research investigates the overrepresentation of Black students in special education and develops frameworks for reimagining policy and practice. Beyond the classroom, I direct the Xavier University Community Outreach Center (XUCOC), where I lead initiatives that connect the university with Gert Town and surrounding communities through collaborative programming and educational partnerships.
