... In 2023 there was a highly publicised event involving the abuse of a number of children by an Early Years Educator. This event shook our small Isle of Capri community, both educators and families. Company wide, Eden Academy demonstrated their commitment to Child Safety and embedding Child Safe Principles by introducing a statement of commitment to child safety which is signed by every educator employed. With the mindset of ensuring child safety and embedding Child Safe Principles, we launched our own investigation into how we can improve our current practice at the centre level to ensure all children are safe and feel secure in our service.

Our educators engaged a centre wide Critical Reflection about the Child Safe Principles and how we embed these within our service.
We shared our reflections with the public over our social media.
Our entire centre celebrated Holi. Celebrating a range of cultural events creates a sense of belonging and cultural safety for our children, families and community.
The Kangaroos were engaged in an incursion with Mini Medics. This incursion focused on teaching the Kangaroo children how to provide basic first aid and how to respond in emergencies. This empowers the children to care for their own and other's safety and wellbeing.
