5.2 Settlement Patterns and Survey Methods

Using Google you will screen shot a rural area/city (if you do know, just Google what areas are rural in your country) then identify was is the Settlement Pattern such as clustered/nucleated settlements, dispersed settlements, and linear settlements. 

Based on the image description, the settlement pattern appears to be nucleated. Nucleated settlements are characterized by buildings and structures that are closely packed together, often centered around specific points like crossroads or plazas. This is typical of densely built urban areas, as seen in the image.  

Then based on the satelite imagery from Google Earth identify what is the most likely survey method used and why. 

Given its Spanish colonial history, it’s likely that the city was originally surveyed using a system similar to Metes and Bounds. This system, used by the English and Spanish in the New World, relies on local geographical features and landmarks to define property boundaries. However, please note that over time, as cities grow and develop, the original surveying methods may be supplemented or replaced by more modern techniques.
