Kenya serves as a significant hub for irregular migration, encompassing origin, transit, and destination points for migrants heading towards South Africa, the Middle East, North Africa, West Africa, Europe, and North America. Human trafficking is a pressing issue in the country, with efforts from the government to combat it, including the establishment of a national referral mechanism and implementing regulations for private labor recruitment agencies. Challenges persist in effectively protecting and treating trafficking victims. Nomadic ethnic groups from the Horn of Africa are exploited by smugglers who use established trade routes, particularly towards North Africa. Eastern Africa functions both as a transit and source region for migrants, primarily destined for Europe, the Middle East, and Southern Africa. The route via Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and Mozambique to South Africa is a prevalent path for irregular migration. And as a result many have been leaving the country

Kenyans are leaving their country in the pursuit of better education, health care, and opportunities in general in more developed countries. They do this in order to learn in that country, garner up knowledge and come back to Kenya in order to be of more help.
