For me scholarly content value is rooted in the communication of ideas, in collaboration between researchers (even if they do not directly collaborate on a project, and the contribution to discourse and dialogue. I think the sharing of ideas is imperative in foregrounding community and expanding what is human knowledge. Another aspect that I find valuable is the fact that there is no end to scholarly communication. Ideas generate questions that generate answers leading to more ideas--not to render scholarly communication simplistic but rather to demonstrate how the process is ongoing.
