A $500 team deposit fee (in the form of a check made out to I-LYA 2025) should be brought to the registration desk on Sunday by 4pm by the Team Liaison (TL). SAILORS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHECK IN until we receive the deposit. Please see the NOR for the rules and regulations regarding the Team Fee. Assuming all goes well, your team deposit check will be destroyed (rather than returned) unless prior arrangements have been made with the Chair.
Per the Notice of Race (NOR), your Club Officer must approve and sign a letter stating the names of each of the approved race team members to compete at the I-LYA Junior Championships. This letter must be signed, scanned and emailed, to ilyajrchamps@gmail.com by 7/7. Also bring a hard-copy with your registration items on Sunday, July 13th.
Team Liaison (TL) serves for the entire regatta as the liaison between the team and the regatta chair(s). The TL completes, organizes and brings all documents and check payments for the team. The TL needs to be physically present on the island for the entire week.
Mandatory Team Liaison Meeting
June 27 @ 7:00 PM
Agenda:
Changes to the Firewatch Schedule
Changes to the General Schedule
SignUp Geniuses for team & parent responsibilities
If your club is thinking of sending sailors to Junior Champs, make sure someone from your program (preferably the Team Liaison) attends the meeting.
1) Registration by 7/2 and Sailor Payment Instructions: Make sure your sailors are all registered by 7/2.
Payment options:
Credit Card Payments: Sailors can pay online using a credit card (additional 3% credit card fee assessed on the transactions).
Check Payments: If your team is covering the total cost of your sailors, or your sailor wishes to pay by check, instruct your sailors to choose "Offline Payment" at the registration checkout; check payments will incur an additional $4 processing fee PER SAILOR, so add that to the total amount of your check. The TL will BRING ALL checks, payable to I-LYA 2025, with them to REGISTRATION on Sunday, July 13th.
At the Bay: TL is responsible for insuring that their Race Team POD is available and how to access them. Should the POD be unavailable for any reason, the TL will either assume those duties or delegate them to another person. TL is personally responsible for three major initiatives during the week:
1) Sunday by 4pm Team Deposit & Safety Check In Sheet (with Code of Conduct form) Turn in Team Deposit check as soon as your team hits Put in Bay so that we can register and check in the sailors. Also please make sure each of your team members has a printed and signed Safety Check In sheet (with Code of Conduct form).
2) Sunday @ 4pm Hotel Keys Your team must be together to receive their room assignments and keys at PIBYC.
3) 10:30pm EACH NIGHT. Check in the team at the hotel. TL should talk face-to-face with each and every individual sailor when checking in the team to ensure everyone is accounted for. They may be in their rooms - make sure you see each sailor with your own eyes. Professional security will be present throughout the night.
Each Race Team will assign a POD for each day of the event. POD will be available from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm on their assigned day. POD must sign in by 7:30 am in the front room at PIBYC. POD takes care of problems not related to racing (i.e. change of clothes, sickness, any competitor coming off the water during racing, bad weather cancellations and on shore activities.) This signup will send you reminders via email.
Firewatch shifts are scheduled daily in shifts from 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Chaperones assigned to the 3:30-6:00 pm shift (Mon-Wed) should be prepared to start earlier or later based on when the sailors are dismissed to the hotel after racing. Each club should provide a minimum of two (2) responsible adults per assigned Fire Watch shift, sometimes 3. You must stay for your entire shift. Specific guidelines are available here and at the hotel. This signup will send you reminders via email.
We are an all-hands-on deck operation with all I-LYA parents, coaches and observers serving to help as needed.
Your team is required to have a MINIMUM of 1 safety boat on EACH course where your sailors are participating. Coach boats are included and count toward your team's requirement. RC and Mark boats do not count.
This safety boat will be manned with 2 people. Each person on the safety boat must be wearing a lifejacket.
The boat must be equipped as described in the safety manual (below).
All safety boats are to be ready to tow/be a safety boat for any sailor on any team, who is in distress and requires assistance. Do not provide assistance unless the sailor affirms that they need help, or if they cannot speak for themselves.
Stop down at the PIBYC ramp, help launch or recover the junior sailboats and get a cool t-shirt! Give us your info, availability, and Vic from BLYC will be in touch!
