Per the Notice of Race, these Rules and Regulations along with the Competitor Code of Conduct are part of the Rules governing the regatta. Violation of the Rules and Regulations or Code of Conduct could result in penalty.
CURFEW (10:30pm): Each team member and his/her chaperone(s) are responsible for seeing that competitors enter and remain in their sleeping rooms by 10:30pm with lights out at 11:00pm (Sunday-Wednesday.) Co-ed visitation is NOT allowed. No boys in the girls’ rooms. No girls in the boys’ rooms. The hotel requires that all competitors are supervised when at the hotel. Club “fire-watch” volunteers will share this responsibility.
In the event of bad weather, cancelled races, and at all other times that the competitors are not restricted to the grounds of the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club or sleeping in their rooms, supervision of competitors is the sole responsibility of the club chaperones.
“NO WHEELS” RULE: The Hotel is within walking distance of all events. For safety, competitors may not ride in or on any vehicle of any kind during the regatta. This “NO WHEELS” rule includes (but is not limited to) automobiles, trucks, SUVs, golf carts, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and roller blades. Quite simply, IF IT HAS WHEELS, DON"T RIDE IN OR ON IT. This rule is in effect for the entire duration of the regatta from registration on Sunday through awards presentation Thursday afternoon.
MEALS: Competitors are to attend all scheduled meals. Attendance will be taken. Please bus your tables. There will be no dinner served on Tuesday night. Tuesday is “Team Night Out” and the responsibility of each club. All meals will be served at the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club with the exception of the Ice Breaker Dinner and Awards Banquet.
GUEST RESPONSIBILITY: Competitors will be housed for four nights at the Grand Islander Hotel and are personally responsible for the maintenance and condition of their assigned room and its furnishings until checked out by their Team Liaison or committee member on Thursday morning. Horseplay or abuse of any kind will not be tolerated. Violations can lead to dismissal from the regatta and financial responsibility for damages.
Rooms must be cleared of all people and belongings by 7:30am Thursday.
Towels are NOT supplied by the hotel. You must furnish your own.
Wet towels and wet clothing should be hung in the bathroom and not on the furniture.
No smoking, no candles, no incense-- no burning of anything allowed in rooms.
Only competitors and chaperones are to be in the hotel. No co-ed visitation at any time. All must be in their own assigned room after curfew. Only competitors may sleep in the rooms.
Take care when eating and drinking in rooms. Dispose of trash appropriately on and off the water.
Competitors are welcome to use the pools at the Islander Inn. Pool rules and regulations are posted and should be followed. Competitors are NOT permitted at Splash at the Grand Islander Hotel.
Respect the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club and the hotel by keeping the grounds clean.
At all times, act like young ladies & gentlemen. You represent yourself, your club, I-LYA, and our sport.
THURSDAY MORNING HOTEL CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES:
Designated check-out time is between 6:00 am and 7:30 am
All competitors and their possessions must be completely out of the rooms by 7:30 am.
Each room must be checked by the team liaison, or designated parent, before 0800 Thursday morning.
If there is unreported damage found by the hotel staff after competitors leave, all competitors in the room will split the cost of repair.
The last person in the room should prop the door open by placing the deadbolt across the door before it is shut.
