The FIRST escalator in Indonesia was installed in 1966 at the Sarinah department store, Jakarta. It was made by Hitachi in 1966, and is now preserved! It is featured on this site's homepage header.
Two of the several Schindler 9300 AE escalators at Pondok Indah Mall 2, Jakarta were once featured on the front cover of the old Schindler 9300 AE escalator brochure back in the 2000s.
The long express escalator at Senayan City, Jakarta once had a giant red high heel under it, and it was quite iconic that the escalator was featured on an American website dedicated to elevator and escalator photos Elevatorbob's Elevator Pictures. Sadly the heel has been removed.
