GoldStar was a South Korean company who, apart from producing electronics, also produced escalators under two slightly different divisions. It started out in 1968 and had a technical partnership with Hitachi and Mitsubishi. In 1994, GoldStar merged with Lucky Chemicals and became LG (Lucky GoldStar) in 1995. Its elevator and escalator division was bought by OTIS in 1999.
In 2000, Sigma was formed as a brand of Korean OTIS products exclusively sold for overseas markets.
PT. Jaya Kencana is the current distributor for Sigma products, who had previously distributed GoldStar/LG products since 1983.
These escalators are based on Hitachi's V-series escalators, and were produced under license from Hitachi as GoldStar had a technical partnership with Hitachi. This escalator was produced by GoldStar Industrial Systems at their Changwon factory between the 1980s and 1994, and continued to be produced by LG from 1995 until the late 1990s. It was also produced during the merger of LG's elevator business with OTIS under LG-OTIS Elevator Company, resulting the "LG-OTIS" name being used on the escalator (extremely rare). It was the most common escalator model in Indonesia from the 1980s to 1990s, and is mostly seen in shopping centers.
There are at least three known landing cover patterns; square, brick and rectangle.
Most GoldStar branded escalators have their logo located on the bottom right corner of the landing cover (similar to Hitachi), but there are a few ones where the logo is located in the middle of the cover closest to the steps. LG and LG-OTIS branded escalators always have their logo located in the middle of the cover, and some late LG models may not have the iconic "face" logo (instead, just the LG letters). Very few LG installations with Korean characters on the logo also exist. Nearly all LG escalators use grey colored steps.
It seems that the manufacturer and production year of an LG escalator can be tell by the logo. Escalators produced by LG Industrial Systems between 1995 and 1999 have the so-called "face" logo, while those produced by LG-OTIS Elevator Company in 1999 and 2000 do not have the "face" logo.
The model names for GoldStar branded escalators appear to be GS-EN for standard type, GS-UN for advanced type, and GS-P for public transit type.[1]
The model name for LG and LG-OTIS branded escalators appear to be LN Series according to the earliest Sigma elevator website[2] and official documents.[3]

SEE is another Sigma escalator model that was produced from the 2000s until the early 2010s.[4] It appears to be an economical model for commercial use.
It has a much basic and simple design compared to the more aerodynamic looking SCE model. Keyswitches and emergency stop button are located on the upper skirting (similar to SCE), but some others are located on the lower skirting (on a black rectangle). The landing cover pattern is a rectangle grid and the comb teeths are yellow (similar to LG's LN Series).
