International Conference on Management Education in Transition in Asian Countries  


The International Conference on Management Education in Transition in Asian Countries organized by the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), Eastern Region, was held on 6th July 2024, at The Stadel in Kolkata, with Institute of Engineering & Management - Kolkata as a research partner. 

It seemed like a great opportunity to discuss and learn about how management education is evolving in Asian countries. Professor Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, Hon’ble Director of IEM was invited as an esteemed speaker for a panel discussion on Quality Education and Academic Excellence through evolutionary Leadership: Road Ahead.  

This conference broadened its academic horizons and reaffirmed its passion for bridging theory and practice in the ever-evolving management field. Professor Aaron Chatterjee, distinguished Professor, Duke University, USA, Professor URS Luterbacher, Professor Emeritus at the Centre for Environmental Studies and the Centre for Finance and Development at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Professor Dr. Sujit Dutta, Professor & Head of the Management Department of IEM Kolkata brought forth their perspectives in a spirited discussion on methodological rigor and the implications for drawing valid conclusions in empirical research.

4th Edition of the International Conference on Paradigm Shift: Transformative Strategies in The Business World, 2024 has been organized on May 10-12, 2024 to address dominant areas of research on sustainable practices from the marketing perspective, the origin of interest in sustainability, as well as the practice of misplacing sustainability ideas in pursuit of short-term business goals. We are happy to have a pertinent discussion on the theme of the conference on each day of the keynote address. We convey our sincere gratitude to Prof.(Dr.) Amitava Chattopadhyay, Glaxo-Smithkline Chair Professor INSEAD France for delivering the inaugural keynote address, to Prof.(Dr.)Denish Shah, Professor Georgia University, USA, for delivering the keynote address on how the future looks from AI perspective,  to Dr.Dhaval Maheta for conducting an insightful workshop on qualitative data analysis and  to Prof. (Dr.) sunil sahadev, Professor of Marketing and Responsible Enterprise at Sheffield Hallam University, UK for joining us as chairperson of the valedictory session.

TECHNOLOGY ANALYSIS, FINTECH AND FINANCIAL SERVICES

Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (IEM) takes immense pride and confidence in hosting various educational and research events. The idea behind organizing this conference was to understand the manner in which technology is changing the financial services scenario.

The objective of the conference was to comprehend the technologies influencing the financial service sector. The conference has helped in inculcating and inducing contemporary research related to the digital accomplishments linked with the financial services sector and complex issues and roadblocks ahead. Furthermore, it has also focussed on comprehending and articulating the role of the Fin-Tech organizations in boosting this disruption at present and in the future years to come.  

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Satyajit Chakrabarti in physical mode. On this occasion, Mr. Anuj Ranjan, General Manager of Fintech Department RBI Mumbai, was the chief guest at the conference, who addressed the participants online from Mumbai. Prof. P.K Banerjee was the convener of the “Technology Analysis, Fintech, and Financial Services” conference. Along with the Chief Guest, the other keynote speakers were Dr. HK Pradhan, Dr. Malcolm Athaide, Indrani Saha, Dr. Achintan Bhattacharya, David Lundgren, and Prosenjit Aich. The conference proceedings included a half-day workshop on commodity training in physical mode. The dignitaries and keynote speakers who participated in the conference were presented with mementos (Plaque). The authors of the research papers present at the conference were presented with certificates online. Likewise, all participants have been provided with a hard copy of the certificates. An abridged version of the conference has also been published.

International Conference Interdisciplinary Research in Technology & Management (IRTM’21) was conducted by the Department on February2021in association with Taylor& Francis group.

International Conference on Disruptive Change & Organizational Development was held on August 30th & 31st, 2019. The International Conference was attended by over 50 delegates (including academician, Industry representatives and research scholars from within India and abroad).

The Management Department of IEM had organized the 3rd International Convention at the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand on 21-22 March, 2018. Around 25 number of students participated in this convention. The theme of the convention was Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Market Space.



A Special Workshop on “DIGITAL MARKETING” was organized for the Management students. The Workshop was conducted by eminent Professor Ian Fenwick (in picture with Prof. Dr. Sujit Dutta, HOD, MBA, IEM on left and Prof. P.K.Banerji, Dean, MBA, IEM on right).
