About the Department:
The Management Department at the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) is the oldest academic unit of the institution, established in 1989 and situated in Sector V, Salt Lake Electronic Complex, the information technology hub of West Bengal. It offers two-year full-time MBA and MBA in General Management programmes, affiliated with the University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The MBA programme at IEM, Kolkata, is one of the Institute’s flagship offerings, designed as a two-year (six-trimester) curriculum comprising a well-balanced blend of core and elective courses. The academic structure is complemented by more than 4,000 foreign and industry certifications, as well as opportunities for international internships, thereby preparing students for direct placement in global organizations.
The programme provides a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, incorporating experiential learning components that enable students to develop ventures and apply managerial concepts in real-world contexts. International lectures and industry interactions are integrated through a structured Study Abroad Programme in various countries, further enhancing global exposure. Each year, leading companies from around the world recruit graduates with highly competitive compensation packages.
The Institute is committed to fostering ethical values, compassionate conduct, and a deep sense of social responsibility among its students. The curriculum includes regular hands-on laboratory sessions on tools such as SPSS, Tally, and portfolio management software, alongside mandatory winter and summer internships that strengthen practical and research-oriented learning.
