Online Resources
Newspapers.com is going to be the most comprehensive online resource for newspapers. They have a vast collection of digitized papers from around the state, including several from the Iredell/Piedmont region that can help in local research. Their website is also capable of using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to allow users to search the papers using names and keywords. You can also narrow your search by year or year range. Digital NC is another good resource if researchers want to browse a paper and aren't looking for something specific. Many North Carolina newspapers have been scanned and added to their digital collection.

Books and Print Resources
Over the years, several members from the Genealogical Society of Iredell County and other local researchers have indexed many of the local newspapers. If you are looking for specific information (i.e. obituaries or marriage announcements), there is probably a published index available in the Local History Room. These publications are useful because you can look in them to find the subject or individual you are researching and the index should tell you what date issue you need. Then you can use the above online resources or microfilm to view an original image of the relevant page. Below are a few examples of some helpful print resources regarding newspapers.
