Iredell County Local History and Genealogy Research

Iredell County was formed out of Rowan County in 1788. Many of the early settlers in the area were German Protestants who migrated from Pennsylvania and Maryland. Other counties were formed out of Iredell so many of the surrounding counties share history and culture with Iredell. The library assists researchers from all over the world who can trace their ancestry back to this county. It is essential to understand the history of a place in order to better understand the world in which our ancestors lived.
