Recognizing and Reporting Discrimination: What does it look like in ABE?

When and how should we report discrimination in our ABE systems? In this session, we will provide an overview of how to recognize discrimination in ABE contexts: in our professional working conditions; in how we serve learners; and as a topic of instruction. We will also share processes and build confidence around reporting discrimination at a broader, system-wide level, including ABE-specific advice from the MN Department of Human Rights, and share ideas for additional actions and support. We will look together at instructional resources to address learners’ experiences with systemic discrimination, and gather further questions and needs that ABE professionals have on this topic.
