Let's keep active!

Welcome to our new online activity centre!

Hertford and Ware School Sports Partnership want to help you to be active whilst the coronavirus outbreak is keeping us all at home. We hope that adding any of these activities into your new daily routine will also add some extra fun!

Hello! Here we are with our second week of activities. Remember to have a go, repeat the challenges, and challenge the challengers (your family). You will get better and stronger but most of all have fun. You might like to make up your own challenges.

CHALLenge

Personal Challenge 1 - How many burpees can you complete in 1 minute?
Equipment -Stopwatch

Make it harder by... extending the amount of time to 2 minutes!

skill

Well done everybody who had a go at my ball blast challenge. Did you manage to adapt it to create a new game? If so, what did you call it?

This week’s challenge requires some of last week’s equipment but with an addition. GOOD LUCK!

Equipment needed:

· 1 tennis ball or ball of similar size

· Racket or bat

The aim of the game: is to see how long you can balance the ball on your racket

o Standing still to start with

o Then walking slowly

o Then maybe jogging

Further challenges:

TOO EASY?

o Then progress to hitting the ball up

o How many times can you hit it up without dropping it?

o Can you stand still to start with and then do it while moving about

o You could make an obstacle course to go round

TOO DIFFICULT?

o Try a different type and size of racket or bat or use your hand

o Let the ball bounce between hits

o Change the size of the ball

Other options:

o How about trying to bounce the ball?

o How many times in a row can you bounce the ball while moving?

o Try to beat your score.

o Try turning your racket over between hits, or even swapping hands!

o Make up your own challenge for your family

outdoor activity

Noughts and Crosses Frisbee

Construct a 3 x 3 board on the ground using masking tape or chalk, with the squares big enough for a frisbee. Then take turns with your partner throwing the frisbee, attempting to land it (mostly) in a square. If successful, mark your X or O in that square. Continue until you have a winner.

Equipment You'll Need

  • A Frisbee, a ball or anything really that you can throw!

  • Chalk, masking tape or anything to make a 3 x 3 grid

You can make it harder by making the squares smaller or standing further away.

You can make it easier by making the squares larger and standing closer.
