The literacy coach(es) support K-5 staff in the implementation of the district Response to Intervention reading plan. Literacy coaching focuses on supporting classroom teachers in providing differentiated literacy instruction, including guided reading, as well as English language development (ELD) instruction. The coach works directly with teachers at school site providing classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one support, and facilitating teacher inquiry and related professional development. The coach focuses on enhancing teachers’ ability to provide instruction that builds students’ sense of engagement in the ownership of learning to read. The coach also works with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret, and use it to guide instructional decisions.
