October 2021
Council Corner
Big news occurred at our most recent council meeting. Led by Pastor Birk, we began discussions to start the formal call process for a permanent pastor. I will be reaching out to the president of the Babbitt Evangelical Lutheran Church (BELC) within the next few day to get this journey in motion. This could take a shorter period of time. This could take a longer period of time. One never knows with the call process. Nonetheless, our church will need some volunteers when the time comes to serve on the call committee. Please consider taking part in choosing our church’s path forward.
In other news, the council finally filled its vacant vice president position. This was due to a resignation within the last few months. I want to wish Bill Krueth the best of luck as he assumes the role of vice president. He will serve as part of our council’s executive committee that generally meets with BELC twice each year to discuss issues that affect both of our churches. I want to thank Bill for agreeing to step forward into this position. I and the church council have full confidence that he will do an excellent job.
Finally, our members decided to support our young people. We approved the amount of $50 to help pay for the bulletins of our young Sunday school members. If I heard correctly, our Youth & Family Committee plans to start Sunday school on October 10. Please consider sending your child to Sunday school. In addition, if you know of any young children within the surrounding communities, feel free to pass the word the HLC Sunday school program is ready to start. In an ever-changing world, this is a great place for them to begin their faith journey.
May God grant you peace until we meet again next month…….
In God’s Name,
Lance Kupka
