Council Corner
At our recent meeting, members continued with the discussion of the call process. We have started the baby steps toward getting a permanent pastor. Our church constitution was reviewed and revealed that six members serve as members of the Call Committee. Three will come from Hope Lutheran while three will come from Babbitt Evangelical Lutheran Church (BELC). None of these members can currently be a part of either church’s elected council. Please consider joining this group when given the opportunity. We will keep you updated as this process moves forward.
In other news, the refrigerator in the basement finally said its last goodbyes. The motor finally stopped working, and the items inside commenced spoiling. The council decided to tackle this issue twofold. First, we are going to test the refrigerator that we removed from the Pike Church a few years ago. It worked when we last tested it. Bill Krueth will test it again this coming week. If operational, our problem is solved. If not, the council will move forward with the second part of our plan. In this light, we approved up to $1500 for the purchase of a new refrigerator. Stay tuned…...
Finally, I wanted to mention the budget once again. Thanks to the generous giving of HLC members, our church has been able to rebuild our savings since the beginning of the pandemic. We have transferred money back into our various savings accounts to the tune of approximately $25,000. In today’s world, this may not seem like all thought much. However, about four to five months ago, council members engaged in legitimate discussions about the dwindling level of our savings account, and where our church was headed financially. Nice job!!! Keep it up!!! It is so nice to write about this type of news.
May God grant you peace until we meet again next month…….
