Introduction ツ
i first got into hijab cosplay during 2022 and my first character was Wano Zoro. i saw a Qiqi hijab cosplay (Genshin Impact) through my tiktok fyp and thought it was cool and creative to create a hair design with just your hijab! not just that, i also took inspiration from akak Ai Nurul a lot. her cosplays are so cool. when i first cosplayed, i didn’t do my hijab like how i used to now because i was of course inexperienced and it was my first time doing makeup too. but over time, i managed to fix and improve a lot of things especially my eye makeup. do view my instagram account, @jmnimn ^^.
Q1. "What is the 'vibe' or aesthetic of your hijab cosplay style?"
i would say accuracy-focused. even though i have to use so much pin and bunch of hijabs, it’s worth it to make it accurate especially when the hair represents the character a lot. i once change my cosplay entirely to another character because the hijab style was wrong and the makeup doesn’t fit the character.
Q2. "What is your #1 'Hijab Hack' for new cosplayers?"
use cotton material hijab!!! it’s easier for you to style and it’ll not be heavy on your head especially if you use more than two hijabs!
Q3. "What does being a Hijab Cosplayer mean to you in being part of the Cosplay Community?"
for me, it means creativity and still trying to cover your aurat. even though it’s not perfect, hijab cosplayers still tried their best.
Q4. "Which character did you feel most 'yourself' in, and why?"
i mostly feel comfortable cosplaying badass characters such Bela Dimistrescu from Resident Evil and Makima from Chainsawman. the thing is because doing sharp makeup fits better on my face. but cosplaying cute character would be a challenge for me and if i managed to pull them, it’s my proudest moment!
Q5. " If you could change one thing about the current ACG community scenes to make it more enjoyable/inclusive, what would it be?"
i would say let people enjoy what others like to do. i saw a lot of people bullying other cosplayers just because their character is not accurate. people need to quit bullying and learn to accept that everything started from the bottom.
