Q1. "What is the 'vibe' or aesthetic of your hijab cosplay style?"
Moreso towards accuracy, but also having my own spin for them here and there 😊
Q2. "What is your #1 'Hijab Hack' for new cosplayers?"
ALWAYS do a hijab costest for a character you wanna do with existing hijabs regardless of color before committing to buying the proper hijab color(s) for the characters! It helps to gauge how much you would need without accidentally buying too little/too much! (Especially when it comes to "bidang bawal")
Q3. "What does being a Hijab Cosplayer mean to you in being part of the Cosplay Community?"
Definitely in being accepted as a cosplayer although we'd have to, I guess, alter the look to make it modest and work for us :) and that wig or not, modest or accurate, cosplay is still cosplay 😄
Q4. "Which character did you feel most 'yourself' in, and why?"
Out of all the cosplays I've done, I certainly feel the most "me" in my closet Venti cosplay (Genshin Impact); One being that I genuinely enjoy the outfit, and two because I feel like Venti's general personality feels like how I view myself now :)
Q5. " If you could change one thing about the current ACG community scenes to make it more enjoyable/inclusive, what would it be?"
I guess having the diversity when it comes to representing a certain brand or community. I understand that lore-accuracy shapes first impressions, but at same time allowing for more variations of a cosplay can also help show how creative cosplayers can be, you know?
Q6. " How do you overcome challanges while becoming a Hijab Cosplayer?
Some stuff I've heard is like "you might as well wear a wig if you're gonna style your hijab like one" like let us be, man. We have our reasons why we decide to do hijabi cosplay. And honestly, I just try not to put too much thought into comments like these, because even if I try to explain anything, half of them won't even listen (can be judged based on how they bring it up in the first place). I personally am doing it for the love of cosplay and creativity, not for people's validation or applause. I am happy for how I do my cosplays, and that's all that matters honestly.
