Chichele GardenWheelbarrow Competition

An exciting new competition for 2024!

Plant a wheelbarrow, big or small, with pollinator-friendly plants

This competition is a simple, hands-on, and fun gardening activity that can be enjoyed by school children of all levels, from nursery to secondary as well as adults from local groups and societies.

The theme complements our Walk on the Wild Side Art Competition for local schools and the Town Council’s Bee Squared Project.

What you need to do

Complete and return the application form below by 30 March.

Working as a team, everyone will need to decide on an idea to fit the theme, design the barrow and then plant, nurture and care for the plants until the barrow is delivered to Chichele College on Friday 24 May.

Deciding on the winners

The many visitors to the Chichele Garden Fair Saturday 25 May will vote for their favourite wheelbarrow  on the day. The prizes for the winners will be presented at 2.30pm.

The Great Big Green Week 6-18 June

We will display all your entries in the Duchy Barn Garden during the Great Big Green Week.

Good luck and get planting!
