Chichele College & gardens

a jewel in the town's historically rich crown

Chichele College (c1425), which stands on Duchy land to the north side of Higham Ferrers, is a Scheduled Monument that we manage in partnership with English Heritage.

The gardens

After almost five years of raising funds locally and from the Big Lottery Fund, the garden in Chichele College has been transformed to make it resemble a medieval Cloister Garth.

One of the purposes of rejuvenating this area is to create a quiet area for rest and relaxation, but another is to bring the College to life and for the local community, young and old, to use the building and garden as a special feature of the town.

The gardens are open all year round, and all events are free of charge.
