the great big green week 

8-16 June

Sunday 9 June – Mayor’s Green Trail Day
In association with 'The Great Big Green Week', The Mayor, Cllr Vijay Paul, is hosting a Green Trail Day!

The registration point is The Green Dragon Pub in Higham Ferrers, where you can collect your wristband to take part. Follow the Greenway to Stanwick Lakes, following the sounds of nature trail and the Green Living Fair that is taking place. If you would like to carry on, you can cycle all the way up to Woodford Lock, where we will have some friendly faces with some water and snacks for you. Simply turn around, and follow the trail back to The Green Dragon Pub where the Swedish Kitchen* and The Bar* will be open for all to enjoy. (*at a cost).

Tuesday 11 June - School visit
Yeaer 5 pupils from Higham Ferrers Junior School are visiting Chichele College to carry out a range of activities:

Wednesday 12 June evening 

Members of The Gateway Club will be painting butterflies and pollinators in the Duchy Barn Garden.

Thursday 13 June - School visit

Today Henry Chichele Primary School pupils are coming to do the following activities:

Thursday 13 June evening - Croquet Tournament

Teams from local organisations and groups will be taking part in a Croquet Tournament in the Chichele College Garden.

Saturday 15 June Summer Open Day at  Chichele College 10am - 4pm

Another chance to see the entries for Walk on the Wild Side! art competition for local schoolchildren. Plus the delightful planted wheelbarrows created by local groups and organisations.

Sunday 16 June Secret Gardens of Higham Ferrers 12 noon to 5pm

To end the Big Green Week, the Chichele College Garden and the Duchy Barn Garden will be open with live music and bar. See below for more details.

Secret Gardens of Higham Ferrers

Sunday 16 June 12 noon to 5pm

The residents of Higham Ferrers welcome visitors to their garden each year. The gardens range from the quirky to the formal, some with sweeping lawns and mature trees, while others boast butterfly and bee-friendly refuges, as well as winding paths leading to secluded sitting areas, with another featuring grasses creating height, texture, and movement. Enjoy an ice cream, buy plants for your own garden, or sit awhile sipping a summer cocktail listening to a duo playing relaxing guitar music.

Cost: Programmes £5 per adult (children under 16 free) on sale from the Market Square on the day

SELLING? Its just £5 to hold a sale and be included on our map showing the locations of the sales. 

BUYING? You can pick up a map for £1 from the Market Square on the day from 9am.

HIgham Ferrers Horticultural show

Saturday 7 September 11am-4pm

Higham Ferrers Horticultural Show is open to everyone, young and old, beginners and experienced producers. You don't have to live in Higham Ferrers to take part – all entries are very welcome.

Some classes will be just for fun and some for those who take their produce far more seriously, classes for vegetables, fruit, flowers, floral art, cakes and preserves.

There is plenty of time for you to plan what you will be showcasing. The recipes for the baking section will be on our website along with details of classes and how to enter.

From early spring entry forms can be downloaded from the website www.highamferrerstourism.org.uk or they can be picked up from the Town Hall.

Entrants can submit a maximum of three exhibits in each class. It is 50p an entry and free for children.
