Back by popular demand
Our show is open to everyone, young and old, beginners and experienced producers. You don't have to live in Higham Ferrers to take part – all entries are very welcome.
Some classes will be just for fun and some for those who take their produce far more seriously; classes for vegetables, fruit, flowers, floral art, cakes and preserves.

Section 1 – Vegetables – 10” white paper plates provided
1. Show off your spuds: potatoes, single variety, 4 tubers
2. A bunch of beetroot: tops attached, tied or otherwise, 3 roots
3. 3 onions over 8oz (trimmed)
4. 4 onions under 8oz (trimmed)
5. Shallots: pickling, cooking, trimmed or tied, 6 of either not mixed
6. Bunch of carrots: tops trimmed to 4 inches, quantity 3
7. Handful of beans: runner, broad or French, 6 of one type not mixed
8. Tomatoes large: quantity 5 but must all be same type
9. Tomatoes small: 1 truss of cherry type with ripe and unripe fruit
10. Chillies or peppers: single variety, minimum of 3
11. Cucumbers, grown under protection, quantity 2
12. Silly-shaped specimen: anything silly, strange or accidental
13. Longest runner bean
Section 2 – Fruit – 10” white paper plates provided
14. Apples: 4 eating dessert apples, single variety
15. Apples: 4 cooking apples, single variety
16. Tree Fruit: pears, plums, or cherries, 3 of any individual variety not mixed
17. Soft Fruits: blackberries, raspberries, gooseberries, strawberries – 10-20 mixed or single variety
Section 3 – Floral Art – 3ft circular table with white cloth provided
18. Theme: Celebrating Autumn
Section 4 – Flowers – please bring your own vase to display your flowers
19. 3 stems of roses
20. 3 dahlias, any type, any size
21. 3 chrysanthemums
22. 3 flower stems of any one variety not listed in classes 19─21
23. Vase of mixed garden flowers, maximum 10 stems
Section 5 – Preserves
24. A jar of homemade jam
25. A jar of homemade marmalade
26. A jar of homemade chutney
Section 6 – Baking
27. One family–sized cake, decorated for a celebration – to your own recipe - no fresh cream please

30. Fruit pie – to your own recipe
Section 7 - Junior Baking
31. Aged under 12: 3 Cute cupcakes - follow this recipe

Section 8 - Junior Gardening
Age 2–4
33. A paper plate flower
Age 5–7
34. A floral arrangement in a jam jar
Age 8–11
35. A miniature garden in a small tray
Age 16 and under
36. Homegrown produce planted, tended and shown by the entrant
WHAT IS PROVIDED?
All exhibitors – we will give you an Exhibitor Number when you register – please DO NOT put your name on your entry.
Vegetable and Fruit classes – 10” paper plates will be supplied for display.
Flower classes – please bring your own vase for display.
Floral Art – 3ft circular table with white paper tablecloth provided for each entry.
THE RULES
All entries must be according to the schedule.
All exhibits in the vegetable, fruit and flowers sections must have been grown and cultivated by the exhibitor.
Exhibitors in the baking classes must follow the set recipe where stated.
All exhibits in the Children’s sections must be completed by the child, although guidance can be given to children aged under 4.
Entrants may submit a maximum of 3 exhibits in each class.
The judges may withhold or modify any prize in any class where entries are not of a sufficient number or merit.
Exhibits are not judged according to any criteria set out by any governing bodies. We have an informal system and use the expertise, knowledge and recommendation of our chosen judges to decide our winners.
The judges’ decision will be final.
Every care is taken to ensure the safety of your items, but we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damages. Exhibits are shown at the owner’s risk.
Exhibits must be removed between 10am and 11am on Sunday 8 September unless being donated for raffle prizes.
