This is a one semester class which provides an overview of what astronomy is and how it is studied. This class covers topics such as: history of astronomy, telescopes, the celestial sphere, our moon, sun, solar system, stellar evolution, and the different types of galaxies. We also discuss the Big Bang Theory as an accepted scientific theory for the creation of the universe. Students will be using virtual simulations and real observational data to describe the movement of stars and planets.
